Jungfraujoch, Switzerland

As I mentioned in the first post, on the first day we could see the snowy peaks of Jungfraujoch from the city and from the top of Harder Kulm. Being at the top of Jungfraujoch however was completely different. From the top of Harder Kulm we thought we had a good vantage point and that we were very high above sea level. 3,466 meters above sea level, the top of Europe is an experience of its own. The journey to the top was slow, to get there you take the train from Interlaken. We had to switch trains a few times as they must be able to go up the steep mountains and some parts of the trip actually go through the mountains. Switzerland has amazing tunnels, driving on the roadways you are constantly going through and between mountains.

From here we had another train ride to go. It was long, but once we got there it was well worth it. The view was unbelievable! IMG_1834_2 IMG_1842

Here are some pictures from outside of the Sphinx, which is the building that is set at the top of Junfraujoch.

From there we walked through a glacier. There were many ice carvings and we were able to walk through the ice tunnels, surprisingly the floor we were walking on was not very slippery.

Next we were outside. Walking on the snow at the top of Europe.

By the end we were completely worn out, we walked around town for a few minutes and head back to the place for the night.
